Crowe LLP
Crowe is a professional services firm specializing in differentiated financial services, consulting, and technology. In addition to product design, I was brought in to visually communicate the big problems our teams work to solve. Using the Crowe design system Peak Design, I created clickable prototypes for future Crowe products as well as external UX clients.
Much of the work I did was confidential, but I’ve collected a few high-level examples here. Some labels and context have been removed to protect sensitive information.
Crowe Product Design
From concept to development, we worked to create the best user experience for our internal and external clients alike. Whether it’s revamping an existing solution or starting from scratch, we helped our clients create the best products possible. Products to date range from financial services software, contract management, scheduling systems and beyond.
Within the UI/UX department, I worked to create and continuously improve a UX Research Strategy Process that includes activities including but not limited to:
User Interviews, surveys, and testing sessions
Design & heuristic reviews of existing products
Product personas, jobs-to-be-done flows, journey flows
Design System Management and transition to Figma
Original design artifacts and illustrations
Project Summary: CIDA For Construction
Client: Crowe LLP
Market: Construction Industry
At every level of construction—from owner to the smallest subcontractor—contracts are needed to engage in business; these contracts ultimately represent the life blood of the construction industry. Depending on the type of contract or parties involved, construction firm project managers, internal counsel, financial managers, and C-suite personnel are required to read in detail every contract and supporting document with the assumption that they have the knowledge required to identify and question certain terms within those documents. As such, construction industry contracts inherently represent a significant resource demand and substantial financial risk, but also an opportunity area for each party involved in any transaction.
“I have struggled with this problem for years and have yet to find a workable solution…This could be huge for the industry.”
Project Activities:
Research and discovery
Competitive Analysis and benchmarking
Journey mapping
Iterative mockups and protoyping
User testing with stakeholders and clients
Pitch-deck creation & branded iconography for marketing
Crowe hypothesized that the construction industry at large has been to a degree left behind in the development and use of sophisticated technology for managing the contract process, representing an underserved need in the marketplace. Based on this hypothesis, the Crowe Construction team worked with Crowe UI/UX to engage with Crowe construction contacts, apply a need-based innovation methodology, and test the appetite for a construction-focused contract management tool built on the base functionality of the Crowe Intelligent Document Analyzer (CIDA) solution. This existing Crowe product uses AI technology to analyze, draw out, and report relevant information to all parties involved.
Client Design
Although not the focus of our team, we are sometimes asked to help facilitate better UI/UX practices, design, and development for external client projects. Continuing to build best practices within our internal functions, these client projects allow us to work with a variety of different problems occurring outside of our usual purview.
Catered to the need, we may help a team work through their client user interviews one day and then aide a manager in implementing her change management plan the next. We work to be the catalyst between plan and action. This often includes visual tools and workshops to help them along the way.
Project Summary: Compass
Client: AltaSciences
Audience: Internal
Compass is the internal project management and scheduling software of medical testing company AltaSciences. A company experiencing growing pains, they looked to unify their day-to-day processes across their many locations. Our team started at the beginning, understanding the pain points of the existing program and working through improvement opportunities before embarking on high-fidelity prototypes and front-end development.
Project Activities:
Analysis of existing software (Compass and Ares) and future needs
Research and discovery: User interviews, analysis, opportunity matrix
Journey Mapping workshops
Iterative mockups and prototyping:
UI/UX Design
Branding and logo creation
Front-end development
Models & Tools
Models work to make the unseen, seen. They’re an important tool in communicating deeply complex ideologies, processes, and information.
I worked to create models to help inform and socialize new ideas within the firm and to our external clients. Sometimes these take the form of very tangible current and future state graphics, other times they’re more about showing the relationships and timelines between moving pieces.
